The magnetic attachment provides a secure attachment while riding, but also allows for easy removal for charging or when parking in a high-risk area. There is not a secondary lock for the light modules, but the magnetic attachment means it takes less time to remove and re-attach the arclight modules than most rubber band or strap-mounted headlights and tail lights. Additionally, when the lights are turned off they are not very visible and would be difficult for someone to remove if they didn't know they were there initially.
