The armpads on the Redshift Quick-Release Aerobars do not flip up. 

We decided that the small added benefit of flip-up armrests was not worth the additional complexity, weight, and cost that would be required. Most riders choose to simply rest their hands on the armrest pads instead of the bar tops. 

If both height spacers are installed, it is also possible to slide your hands underneath the armrest pad and grip the bar top directly.
